Frequently Asked Questions

Program Overview & Philosophy

Is The Restart Home a medical facility? No. The Restart Home is not a medical or detox facility. We are a residential ministry program. If you require medical detox or ongoing complex medical attention, please consult with a medical professional.

What is the primary focus of the program? Our focus is Jesus Christ and His Word. We believe the Bible are God's very words and the final authority for how we are to live, think, and process all of life; including addiction and substance abuse. Our goal is to walk with men as their lives are transformed by the Gospel, resulting in lasting spiritual change.

What kind of counseling can I expect? Residents receive biblical counseling, discipleship, and training in godly habits. Each resident will have an individual development program to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. We do not rely on secular psychology; rather, we believe the Bible provides the wisdom necessary to handle problems, respond to authority, and navigate suffering.

Admissions & Commitment

Who can apply to The Restart Home? Any man who is willing to commit to the program in its entirety may apply. However, acceptance is subject to the decision of the GCR Director and Board. The Restart Home reserves the right to admit or dismiss any person.

Can someone be placed here involuntarily? No. All residents must apply and participate willingly. We only accept residents who have a genuine desire to change, no matter how difficult that process may be.

What level of honesty is expected during the application process? We require total honesty and a willingness to be vulnerable (Proverbs 28:13). You must disclose unresolved legal problems, medical issues, financial obligations, or if anyone is looking for you. Concealing these things hinders true recovery.

Daily Life & Structure

What does a typical day look like? Structure is vital for recovery. Most days are filled with activities designed to help you gain freedom from addiction. A typical schedule includes daily Bible reading and prayer, journaling, cleaning, meal prep, weekly church and small group attendance, class time, Bible studies, one-on-one counseling, financial/life training, and work.

Will I be expected to work? Yes. We believe God created men to glorify Him through work. All residents are expected to work hard throughout the duration of the program. This includes assigned chores, cleaning, and other duties. We believe that changing addictive lifestyles requires sustained effort and a distinct work ethic.

What are the housing arrangements? You will share a bedroom and bathroom with other residents. You are required to keep your living space clean, tidy, and hygienic at all times.

Can I have visitors? Yes, but with restrictions. All visitors must be approved at least a full week in advance by the staff.

Rules & Conduct

What is the policy on drugs and alcohol? We have a zero-tolerance policy. We do not believe in trading one addiction for a "lesser" one. The possession or use of drugs, alcohol, or any unapproved substance is grounds for immediate dismissal.

Is smoking or vaping allowed? Smoking is only allowed in a designated location outside the home. Smoking or tobacco use (including vaping) inside the Restart Home is prohibited and is grounds for immediate dismissal.

What are the expectations regarding relationships? To limit distractions and keep your focus on Christ, men who are not married must commit to refraining from pursuing romantic relationships during their stay.

What kind of behavior results in discipline or dismissal? We desire that men graduate, but failure to abide by expectations can result in dismissal. Specific grounds for discipline include:

  • Refusal to submit to authority.

  • Violence, fighting, or possession of weapons.

  • The use of foul language, coarse joking, or sinful speech (Ephesians 5:4).

  • Failure to participate in scheduled activities.

  • Possession of prohibited items (drugs, alcohol, etc.).

Financial & Medical Logistics

Is there an application fee? No. There is not a fee to fill out the application online, but once approved for the program there is an intake fee, ($250 administrative fee, $50 background check, $150 weekly rent). There are scholarships and help available, but our goal is for you to make an initial financial commitment to begin the program and get to a place where you are providing for your own daily needs.

Who pays for my  food? During your time at Restart, you are responsible for all your own rent & food expenses.

What happens if I have a medical emergency? The Restart Home is not responsible for medical needs. You are responsible for your own medication management and doctor visits. If you need to visit a doctor or an emergency room, you are responsible for all costs incurred.

If you are ready to take your next step in addiction recovery fill out the application today.
